For more than 35 years, I have been privately supporting the education of orphans in different countries of the world. Currently, these are children and adolescents in Thailand, Kenya and Somalia and Pakistan.
I myself was born in Laos and grew up in Thailand as an orphan. I was fortunate to learn how to read and write when I was 14 years old.
Through my education in England as a geriatric carer and my studies with a degree (BS) as a mental health psychologist I have gained a lot of experience with children and adolescents.
In addition to the education and training of my own two children, I have always been a concern to help other orphans the way to life and maybe pave the way for a better future through good training in difficult countries. It's clear that my commitment is a drop in the ocean, but every rescued biography counts. I myself was incredibly lucky, why not pass some of it on to others?
I have not founded an organization that can issue tax-deductible receipts, but many of donation collection companies spend a some amount of the incoming donations by financing the necessary structures. Of course these organisations can do big and necessary projects. But there es space even for small and direct support of people in need.
I support projects in the several countries in a smaller scale with no extra costs. I pay my flights myself and even the money transfer is covered. Sponsors receive a donation receipt. Donations are also reported to the German tax authorities for control purposes (only a maximum of € 20,000 in 10 years per donor are tax-free in Germany, for higher amounts in 10 years the gift tax applies). But even the gift tax is lower than the cost of a tax deductible organization especially if you spend less than the tax limit in 10 years.
